On my birthday last month I received a wonderful surprise invite from Azamara Club Cruises, inviting me to preview their new ship ahead of its official launch in August 2018.
The ship is currently coming to the end of an extensive multi-million pound refurbishment at the Harland and Wolf in Belfast, Northern Ireland which has been overseen by MJM.
Azamara Pursuit isn’t a totally brand new ship; she was formally P&O Cruises Adonia and transferred to the Azamara Club Cruises fleet earlier this year. The ship has been docked in Belfast since early April and will soon set sail from the shipyard for Southampton.
The exclusive two-night preview cruise I have been invited on departs Southampton on 28 July 2018 and will visit Guernsey before returning to Southampton on 30 July 2018. The maiden voyage of the new ship will set sail from Southampton on 01 August 2018. The naming ceremony of Azamara Pursuit will take place in Southampton on 28 August 2018, with two Godmothers christening the new ship. Whilst on board I will also be presenting a drawing of Azamara Pursuit to the Captain. I have previously been commissioned to draw Azamara Quest and Azamara Journey by the cruise line. I’m looking forward to presenting my latest large-scale drawing. I’m so excited to step aboard Azamara Pursuit having followed her transformation very closely on social media for the last two or three months. This will also be my first time experiencing a cruise aboard a six-star cruise ship! Azamara Club Cruises have asked that I and everyone else on board do not post any photos until the ship sets sail on the maiden voyage so you might not be able to follow along live with the cruise but you will be able to see plenty of photos just days later so keep a look out on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
