Queen Elizabeth 2 arriving at Southampton for the last time Today, Friday 11th November 2011, marks 3 years since Cunard Line's famous and much loved ocean liner, Queen Elizabeth 2 departed Southampton on her final voyage, before being permanently berthed at her new home in Dubai, where the vessel still remains, although her future in uncertain. Dream Designs Colchester has had a close connection with Cunard Line for a number of years, but unfortunately we were never lucky enough to have the opportunity visit Queen Elizabeth 2. In October 2011, Harry Cotterill, President & Managing Director, Dream Designs Colchester took the opportunity to visit the City of Southampton, before boarding Queen Mary 2, to view the anchor of Queen Elizabeth 2, which was donated to the City of Southampton earlier this year. Before visiting the City of Southampton, we took a moment to especially 'refurbished' one of our previously assigned drawings of Queen Elizabeth 2 which was originally assigned in November 2009. In October 2011, Harry Cotterill, President & Managing Director, Dream Designs Colchester and his father, Brian Cotterill where given the opportunity to meet with the Master of Queen Mary 2, Captain Kevin Oprey, during their 2 night voyage aboard, where they took the opportunity to have a photograph taken of our 'refurbished' drawing of Queen Elizabeth 2 on the navigation bridge. Harry Cotterill, President & Managing Director, Dream Designs Colchester and his father Brian Cotterill, meet with the Master of Queen Mary 2, Captain Kevin Oprey whilst berthed alongside Cherbourg and take the opportunity to have a photograph taken together with our refurbished drawing of Queen Elizabeth 2 Today is also Armistice Day, where we take a moment to remember all of those who have lost their lives in War to fight for their county. At 11:00am two minutes silence was held across the United Kingdom. Shopping centres, offices, schools and high streets fell silent in memory of those who have lost their lives while serving their country. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the end of World War I when Germany and Allied troops reached a peace agreement in 1918. ENDS
