Emma Maersk berthed at the Port of Felixstowe On Sunday 17th April 2011, Dream Designs Colchester were invited join a group of VIPs at the Port of Felixstowe, where they were given the opportunity to visit the largest ship in the world, Emma Maersk. Amongst the VIPs guests joining Dream Designs Colchester were, a number of Maersk Line representatives, including Brian Godsafe, Managing Director, Maersk Line UK, Danny Wright, Operations Manager, Felixstowe Operations, Maersk Line UK & Ireland and Claire Sneddon, Corporate Communications Manager, Maersk Line UK as well as David Balston, Head of Safety & Environment, Chamber of Shipping. Once guests had boarded the Emma Maersk, they were escorted to the navigation bridge, where they were met by the Captain and Chief Officer, who talked through the various navigation equipment and systems which are used aboard the vessel. Harry Cotterill, President & Managing Director, Dream Designs Colchester then had the opportunity to present his drawing of Emma Maersk to the Captain of the vessel. The Captain was quite impressed by the drawing of the vessel, especially it’s grand size and scale. The Captain of Emma Maersk then presented Harry Cotterill, President & Managing Director, Dream Designs Colchester, with a certificate to acknowledge his visit to the vessel. Harry Cotterill, President & Managing Director, Dream Designs Colchester,said: " It was wonderful to have the opportunity to present my drawing of the Emma Maersk to the Captain of the vessel during the visit aboard at the Port of Felixstowe." A complete tour of the vessel then followed, showcasing the various living areas, galley, medical centre and even the engine and generator rooms! Emma Maersk has an overall length of 397.7 metres and a beam of 56 metres, with the capacity to carry some 15,500 TEU. (Twenty-foot equivalent unit) Emma Maersk was launched in 2006 and made her maiden call at the Port of Felixstowe in November 2006. The vessel received an enormous level of interest, with thousand of onlookers watching as she arrived for the first time. Harry Cotterill, President & Managing Director, Dream Designs Colchester,said: " It was a great honour and privilege to have the opportunity to visit the Emma Maersk, whilst she was berthed at the Port of Felixstowe’s Trinity Terminal.
